Sadly we are in the midst of a devastating pandemic. Even more sadly, things in the country are worse now, then when I took this picture and completed the drawing below. It’s very hard to wrap one’s head around the emotional, physical, and financial suffering that people are enduring.
Because of this pandemic, my art classes have changed. They are virtual and my subjects are local…very local. They are in my yard or in my neighborhood. This beautiful magnolia tree lives around the corner from me. The owner of the tree put up some information about it and it turns out to be 120 years or so old. That means it was here during the 1918 Flu epidemic as well…bringing beauty for all of those years to the neighborhood.
