About

Drawing in the garden

After a long career in IT with a disjointed smattering of art classes over many years, I am now able to pursue botanical art. I am studying with Carol Ann Morley who shares her talents in many locations but I have been lucky to find her close by at Sanctuary Arts in Eliot ME. I work primarily in colored pencils and have studied the media, drawing, and botanical art with Carol. She has also taught me the value of a very sharp pencil and a very fine pencil sharpener as well as generously and patiently teaching me about the structure of flowers and the importance of negative space…the only negative in her classes.

Over the years I have also studied with Fran Matthews of North Andover, MA for 4 years who introduced me to drawing, oils, and watercolor.  Sue Milovina, who was at the time in Durham, NH, showed me the value of tracing paper, vellum, Tuscan Red and Indigo Blue, and mixed media.

Enjoy!
